Five days in

So, we are now in the town of Nancy, relatively near the German border. This is by far the biggest town we have been through, hence the first post on the blog.

The cycling has been amazing so far, beautiful weather and even better countryside. The last few days have topped 30 degrees, which is a warning of what is to come! We have tried to avoid cycling in the middle of the day, so have had pretty chilled out lunch breaks.

We had planned a 170km day for today, but that distance combined with the gradient towards the end meant we had to split it in two, so have some (well deserved) time off at the moment. Tomorrow will be our last whole day in France, then over the hills into Germany and onward!

Hopefully we'll be updating this more regularly from now on

  1. Sounds fun. I want to be out in the sun!

Swimming and running are going well, I trust you're getting your kayak training in in the evenings? ;)

  2. Thats pretty quick! Thought you were only aiming for 90k a day? I see you must be quite eager to get to Hungary yeah!? Also, Joe's PPK must be seriously dampened by this pace....

Enjoy the sun, however it's pretty humid in Italy so hopefully it cools a bit for later on.
    Speak soon
